Hands on the washing machine please! blunted on reality: Shut off those lights, you pothead Blunted is (not) surprised that the cops are searching people's homes based on high utility usage as part of their strategy to bust people growing pot at home. I'd heard this before from a friend that has a computer room that uses lots of power. What really amuses me is that this is what seems like another example of an incident where the reality of middle America gets interrupted by the reality of lower class America and of course they are outraged. They write letters and expect an apology. Of course, most bloggers are part of that middle class, preferential group that never gets targeted by police or other law enforcement, so they just shake their heads and wonder what the hell is going on. Your relationship with law enforcement is determined by your status in society. In one neighborhood they throw you to the hood of the car and ask you questions, in another they'll knock at your door with smiles and "yes sir, no sir". In one neighborhood if you're out after dark they'll pull over and warn you to get home for your own safety, in another they'll pull over and harass you, asking what you're doing out so late. | |
