Dissolve into Evergreens
This blog used to be about politics. Not so much anymore as I have worked through my fascination with that subject. It now seems appropriate that with a new president and the end of the Bush nightmare that I move on to new subjects that are more in line with my current interests. I may still occasionally express an opinion about political matters but for the most part I will be commenting on music, photography and personal observations. Thank you for reading.

Large Volume of F.B.I. Files Alarms U.S. Activist Groups - New York Times:
"'I'm still somewhat shocked by the size of the file on us,' said Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the A.C.L.U. 'Why would the F.B.I. collect almost 1,200 pages on a civil rights organization engaged in lawful activity? What justification could there be, other than political surveillance of lawful First Amendment activities?'"

I secretly suspect that's he not really all that surprised. After all, these actions follow a well established pattern; politics over principles.

I see less of those oval W stickers on cars and trucks these days. I would like to think that people are scraping them off as they learn what a corrupt and unprincipled administration this is. But I still fear that peer pressure, of the religious "Bush is God's chosen" mentality that Streak refers to, is still hanging in there. After all, we've discovered that there are sacred connections in people's brains that keep them from ever questioning their own known "truths", even as they become so apparent as to be blinding.

I know that sounds dismissive, but I can only think of two kinds of people that would still support this blatent lack of ethics; hard line partisans and people who just don't pay attention to politics. I can understand the latter.
