A superhero represents hope in the face of certain defeat. He swoops in from out of the sky and grabs our hand as we fall to our deaths below. The Superhero holds on tight and never lets go, pulling us to safety, up from our demise. But there are no real Superheros, just ordinary Human Heros, whose grip eventually fails and whose defeat of death is limited and brief. Goodbye Christopher Reeve, we could not hold on any longer. |
